Album Of The Month - November 2017
Tracey Browne - 'The Doctrine Of Song'
Incredibly it's more than five years since Manchester based singer songwriter Tracey Browne released her last solo album 'Everyone Is Ordinary'.
Since then she has been exceptionally busy producing and recording other artists and playing live with songwriters and bands from many different genres. She also found time in 2014 to release the superb duo album 'East By North West' with Raevennan Husbandes (our Album Of The Month in March 2017).
Following a successful Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign, a new solo album 'The Doctrine Of Song' was released on 3rd November 2017. Featuring ten original songs, the new release brings stories of friends, family and the dearly departed. Keenly observed vignettes of everyday life.
Building on the strong foundations of earlier musical creations, namely great songwriting, melodies and harmonies, the new collection of songs provides clear signs of an artist still evolving and developing their craft. One of the most striking changes is the harder edge to songs like opening track 'Compliance'. The introduction of piano as lead instrument on some tracks is also a revelation.
'The Doctrine Of Song' is a truly wonderful and uplifting album from one of the best singer songwriters around. Give the album a listen soon!
