Album Of The Month - July 2015
Emma Fee - 'Too Busy Watching Invisible Things'
Emma is a Hull based singer songwriter whose musical influences include The Beatles, Sheryl Crow, Neil Finn and The Beach Boys.
She started singing and playing the guitar and piano at an early age. Growing up with a family who also loved to play, write and sing, it was a natural progression for her to start a band with two of her siblings. Emma, Adam and Rachel Fee are The Happy Endings.
Emma embarked on a solo project to further develop her songwriting skills and style. The first fruits of this venture came with the release of a highly recommended 4 track EP in 2012 (available at http://emmafee.bandcamp.com/album/emma-fee-ep)
Following several more years developing her craft, debut album 'Too Busy Watching Invisible Things' was released on 10th April 2015. The album contains 11 original songs written by Emma (including 4 co-written with Michael Jessop). She also plays the majority of the instruments on the album.
On first listen it is immediately evident that this is a very special collection of songs. From opening track 'Plastic Heroes' through to closing song 'A Chapter' there are many highlights on an album that oozes class and quality. Repeated listens are rewarded with an increasing appreciation of the melodic beauty and richness of the music.
Emma possesses a beautiful and soulful voice with an incredible range and depth. Drawing lyrical inspiration from everyday life and experiences her music effortlessly evokes images of heartbreak, loneliness, love and hope.
In a heavily populated section of the music market it can be very difficult for a singer songwriter to stand out from the crowd. Releasing an album with the timeless quality of 'Too Busy Watching Invisible Things' should definitely help Emma Fee make her mark!
