Album Of The Month - October 2017
Urban Rain - 'Ghost'
For this month's music selection we return to Hull for the third time in 2017 - this time to feature Urban Rain's debut album 'Ghost'.
John Cox (vocals, guitars) and Rosie Q (vocals, bass) are the creative core of Urban Rain and have been working together since Autumn 2013 . They are often augmented live with Pete Cox (electric guitar) and sometimes Martin Hyde (drums) or Dave Hughes (cajon).
Debut album 'Ghost' was released on 8th October 2017 and is a wonderful collection of beautifully crafted melodic songs. Urban Rain accurately describe their sound as funky with cool harmony vocals, semi-acoustic with elements of electro. Their stripped back sound is captured perfectly with immaculate production.
Lead and harmony vocals are outstanding and a particular highlight of the music. The interchangeability of lead vocals between John and Rosie works really well and adds another dimension to the sound.
Urban Rain's debut album 'Ghost' is highly recommended listening!
