Album Of The Month - September 2016
Happy Endings - Happy Endings EP
For this month's music selection we stay in Hull, UK City of Culture 2017, and feature acoustic pop/rock band Happy Endings.
Starting off life as an all family combo the band line up evolved over several years and now comprises sisters Emma Fee (vocals / guitar) and Rachel Fee (vocals / guitar / piano) alongside Mike Jessop (percussion).
Well established on the Hull music scene the band are influenced by a wide range of music spanning the decades (including The Beatles, The Beach Boys, Crowded House, Sheryl Crow and Dawes). They are perhaps best known, however, for their gorgeous vocal harmonies and soaring melodies.
Happy Endings released their self titled debut EP in August 2015. Recorded at Triangle Window Studios, the EP is a wonderful collection of four original tracks with Emma and Rachel writing two songs each.
The highly crafted music is characterised by beautiful vocals and harmonies. There is never any over reliance on instrumentation so this allows the vocals to take centre stage. Immaculate production captures the stripped back sound perfectly. Timeless and classic music!
Currently working hard on their debut album we are looking forward to more new music from the Hull band in 2017. We so believe in Happy Endings!
